Come learn the art of wax carving and lost wax casting!
In this two-day workshop, you will take a jewelry design idea (or tiny sculpture!) from wax block to molten metal to finished project. You will learn the basics of wax carving, how to prepare your piece for casting, the process of investing, and then melting and casting metal. One fun thing about the process of wax carving is that it allows for more organic forms and textures. Students will leave with a finished item such as a ring, pendant, or small object.
No metalsmithing experience is necessary, but can be helpful. This two-day workshop meets in my Charlottesville, VA studio.
