Father's Day is June 21st

Tavia, Posted May 26, 2009

So, I just finished 2 new items specifically for the Dad's and Granddad's in our lives.  The men's version of my Adoration Bracelets - I present to you - the Mandoration Bracelet

Mandoration Bracelet

I also decided to make a pendant version for another option, so here is it, the Mandoration Pendant

Both are made of Sterling Silver and have a nice hammered texture.  You can check out both of these items in my Shop!

Too bad Father's Day doesn't happen in Manuary!

An old journal found

Tavia, Posted May 25, 2009

So, I found an old journal of mine today with dates from 2002 through 2004.  It is not completed, as most of my journals are.  I begin one, and work on it for a while and set it down.  When I find the need to write, I just grab whatever journal is around to get me going.  I guess one day my kids will have a blast looking through all of them, piecing them together.  Hmmmmm.  Anyway, I thought I would share an excerpt.  Maybe I'll throw one into my blog every once in a while.  I don't share these very often, let alone to so many people....so, here it goes.

This one is from October 23rd, 2003 in the early AM.

Rhythm.
Rhythm of life,
Rhythm of words,
Flowing from pens, pencils and crayons.
From Elders and children, and awkward adolescents,
Rhythm of sounds, music and swirls.

Hope you enjoyed this little poem.  I have always enjoyed writing short poems and prose, and now haiku's, as you know if you've seen my Impressions series.  I do find it harder to find the time to sit and write, so the shorts are easier for me.  It has been fairly satisfying including the haiku's in my jewelry over the last two years.  It keeps me writing and satisfies two creative outlets.  There are a lot of empty pages in this journal and I have had a lot happen since October 2003 (two kids!).  Maybe I should fill some of those pages in....

Aldo Landwehr

Tavia, Posted May 13, 2009

As I am sitting in my studio working on a memorial locket for a client, I just got the news that a friend and fellow art student from my college days at Appalachian State University passed away last week.  Ah, I remember the wonderful late nights in the studios working along side friends creating our art and our futures.  Aldo will be missed by many.  He is still an inspiration on living life to its fullest and living your dream.  You can check out some of his work on his website http://aldosculpture.com/ .  As creative director of PT Bambu, Aldo also designed and brought to life the world's first organic school, Green School, in Bali.  You can learn more about it here http://www.greenschool.org

Thank you for reading.  May we all live life with laughter and love.
